The Bondsman, an original horror idea from Grainger David, earned a straight-to-series order from Prime Video and now has none other than Kevin Bacon taking on the lead role.
According to Deadline, the show centers on just an average guy/bounty hunter named Hub Halloran (Bacon) who comes back from the dead with, according to Deadline’s sources, “an unexpected second chance at life, and love, and a nearly-forgotten musical career — only to find that his old job now has a demonic new twist.” Surprisingly, the series is also being described as a drama.
Bacon, who last graced the small screen playing a version of himself in Disney+’s The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (pictured above), appears to be taking on quite a different role here!
We don’t know much else about the series so far, except that Erik Oleson, who took over as showrunner for the second season of Carnival Row, will be the showrunner and that the first season is comprised of eight thirty-minute episodes. Executive producers include David as well as Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold, and Chris Dickie for Blumhouse Television and Paul Shapiro for CrimeThink, Oleson’s production company.
We also don’t know when the project will go into production, though it will likely be a while as there is no intention to do so until the writers’ strike is resolved.
